Recently, this exact thing happened to me, so I searched for the best made driver their was with a hex style tip. My research proved that Titanium Nitride coated tools last longer than most other types of coatings due to the unique molecular bonding process it requires.
Titanium itself is about
twice as strong as steel, and guarantees that the tip will remain in its
original shape, providing an exact fit every time you use it.
What happens with generic drivers over time, is after lots of use, the tip becomes rounded. Once the tip looses its uniformity, and the hard edges become even slightly rounded, using that driver on a brand new screw can compromise the shape of the screw head as well. If this happens, it can become almost impossible to remove a screw in this condition.
This can happen especially fast with the free tools that new RC kits come with. And, if you've ever used those tools, you know the pain that comes with it!
